The village of Cudillero is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful villages in Asturias. If you’re planning a vacation in Asturias or a trip through northern Spain, this coastal gem is a destination you’ll fall in love with from the moment you arrive. Over the years, despite the rise in tourism, Cudillero hasn’t lost a shred of its charm. Today, I invite you to enjoy the colors—especially the blue and green of the sea, the multicolored explosion of its traditional little houses, and the intense green of the nature that surrounds it. Here’s a guide to help you discover what to see in Cudillero, perhaps the best part of the Asturian coast.
Cudillero is located on the western coast of Asturias and boasts a history that dates back to the 13th century. Even then, life revolved around fishing, and it has remained that way to this day. This is an authentic fishing port, a place that exudes the sea from every corner and that has undoubtedly earned its place on any list of must-see destinations for your vacation in Spain.
Marina Square and Amphitheater
The heart of the town and Cudillero’s most recognizable landmark. As you approach the center, the beautiful Plaza de la Marina welcomes you with its white houses and colorful window frames, looking more beautiful than ever.
The most striking feature is the amphitheater-like shape formed by the houses, which are arranged in tiers along the hillside. You could almost say that the square is the stage and the clustered houses are the boxes. It’s an unforgettable sight on any trip through Asturias.

Scenic Route
It’s undoubtedly the best part of Cudillero. If you’re already blown away by the picture-perfect views of the square, get ready to climb up and down hills, wander through narrow streets, and discover magical hidden corners. The routes are marked with little drawings on the ground and the distinctive blue railings. Let yourself go and explore every corner of the town.
Of all the viewpoints you’ll find, the most striking are the Atalaya Viewpoint and the Pico Viewpoint. Both capture the essence of the village like no others. Plus, they’re the best spots to break out your camera and take home an unforgettable memento of your trip through northern Spain.
Cudillero Lighthouse
At the eastern edge of town stands one of the most unique lighthouses in Asturias. There’s something magical about lighthouses, and this one is no exception. Built in the mid-19th century to guide ships along the rocky coastline, it can be reached via a pedestrian path from downtown.

Port of Cudillero
Another must-do is a walk along the Cudillero breakwater. It’s a long, relaxing stroll with spectacular views of the town, plus the chance to watch the waves crash against the shore. It’s an almost hypnotic experience and the perfect way to round off a day on vacation in Spain in one of its most charming coastal towns.
Where to park
The best place to park in Cudillero is the Puerto de Cudillero parking lot: located about 500 meters from the town center, this lot offers free parking spaces. From June 15 through September 15, this area requires payment Monday through Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The rate is €2.50 per vehicle per day. Payment can be made at the designated parking meters or via the Telpark app.
